We have been visiting Corning since our children were small. They are grown and gone, but they still love to go to Corning and Sorges. Jack and I come every chance we get. He has a college friend from many years ago living in Elmira and we meet and eat at Sorges. Jack worked for Corning Glass in Bradford for over 30 years and made many trips to Corning, NY. We took the children along many times and stayed overnight and always ate at Sorges. The food was great and you always welcomed families. We hope to be in the area soon and will certainly enjoy another meal at Sorges. The McMullens

Was I ever surprised to find this website! Wait until I tell my Aunt Sue (a weekly regular). I have been eating at Sorges since I was a baby over thirty years ago. Moved to California in 1985, but never miss a trip to Sorges each year I come back to visit. There is nothing like you on the West Coast. I'll see you in September again.

My mom & dad were from Corning, and I always was there from Michigan for visits. Sorge's is a tradition in our family and I so look forward to the antipasto salads when we visit. I remember one time that's about all I was thinking about as a kid the entire trip in... In a Corning that's changing, it's great to know Sorges is still around!

I have a great-great grandmother who was born in Strangolagalli. Her name was Maria Giuseppa Tomassi. She is the daughter of Domenico Tomassi and Colomba SORGE! We might be related! My wife and I visited the town in October, 2000 and had the time of our lives. Maria Giuseppa Tomassi married Antonio Pescosolido from nearby Arce and moved the five miles that separates the towns. We spent alot of time in and around Strangolagalli and Arce. Pictures anyone?
Now I need to make a trip to Corning!

I lived in Corning until I was 15 years old, Sorge's was then my favorite restaurant, and still is to this day. I don't get to come home that often but the family joke is that if they come to see me they will have to bring home some of Sorge's cavatelli for me!! I look forward to coming home and eating at the best Italian restaurant that I know!! (By the way, the South does NOT know how to make "yonkees" I've tried them but there is just no comparision)

Congratulations on your restaurant's first 50 years! Notice of the 418 foot noodle made it into today's Providence (Rhode Island) "Journal". On Providence's Federal Hill, they, like you, know a little about Italian cooking. The only problem was that the article had your establishment located in Elmira...it must have been a Star Gazette dateline. Best regards from a former Corningite.

I have stopped at your restaurant a number of times over the last
fifteen years, alone and with my family, as my travels take me frequently
to New York City and I find Corning and Sorges a delightful stopover.
Your food is of the highest quality; always fresh and tasty. I have
one criticism, ( meant to be constructive). The bread that you serve
is a step above the old soft bread that I used to have my childhood
peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on. With a Wegman's in town, with
so many varieties of marvelous Italian, French breads, etc. in their
bakery, why do you continue to serve such a bland bread? John E. Lescroart

Great idea, this Sorges.com website. Our prediction/suggestion
is that in (10) years people will order on-line right from the tables
at the restaurant. How's that for fast (maybe not so friendly) service?
Why stop at a website? You could be the first establishment in the
area to offer this! Just remember who suggested it (royalties you
know). Oh, by-the-way, don't tell the wait staff where this idea came
from, they may refuse to serve us next time we're in. Congratulations
